QUETZAL

ARE YOU KIDDING!!! WE SAW A QUETZAL!

We went for a hike the other day and a guide some other people told us that there were Quetzals in the area. But try as we might we couldn't see them.

Then one of our return visits mentioned that you can take the Boquete Tree Trek transport up to their restaurant for FREE. When we got up to their place, where you can zipline or take a coffee tour, I asked about the quetzals. The man told us where to go and at what time. So.... we sat near this tree for a long time and very quietly. I was very proud of Kamerin. It's not always easy to sit quietly, but the environment that Jehovah created made it very easy to sit and listen to the other birds. AND THEN I HEARD IT. The Quetzal... would we see it???? 

But the bus was going to leave soon... we couldn't wait. One MUST use the potty before getting on this ride. So off the guys went ... and we waited just a minute longer. BAMMMMMM!!!!!

In he flew, following two pretty (less resplendent) little girls. The light wasn't great. But who really cares?

A Quetzal is an amazingly beautiful bird. It is very shy and many people don't get to see them. They leave for November -March. But some of them come back early. They are at higher elevations in the tropical countries. They sound very beautiful and when they fly their tails twirl like a kits tail. When they sit in their nests (holes in a tree like a woodpecker) the males let their tale hang out and they move it like a snake if they think there is danger. Jehovah makes really awesome things.
